had an advisory on mot for in/out play on rear pass side wheel bearing , no leaks from any seals just slight play , so looking for any how to s or tips , done a search but not many ideas , is it just a case of removing the rear brake drum/pads etc and the 4 nuts that hold the hub in place then pull the half shaft out to gain access to the bearing and seals ? anyone done it ?
cheers

Sort of, you need to pull out the half shafts then you will need to have the equipment to press new bearings on the shaft and get the old ones off, if may be quite tricky, getting the shafts out is easy though, just don't forget to secure the brake baffle back with zip ties before you take the half shaft out otherwise it will drop and damage the brake pipes.
Some play in the rear wheel bearings can be expected though

thanks alex , at least thats a starting point , i have access to a press to fit the new bearing so will just have to work out if it s better to remove the old one with heat or cutting , seem s to be a lot of how too s on youtube for the removal of half shaft bearings on other makes but not the d40 , so will see how we get on

Its easy to remove the half shafts from the vehicle, but getting the bearings on and off may be a challenge, there is also an ABS ring to remove and replace and a sealing face on the shaft that runs inside the oil seal, you will need a long length of tube or similar to press the new bearings on as you put them on from the inboard end of the shaft
Good luck !
