Hi Everyone,

My first post (so be gentle!).

Ok the stuation is I'm a long time navara fan. I now have the opportunity to opt out of my tax heavy company car scheme, so thought the ideal oppurtunity to get trucked up!!

However I cant run to a D40 so am looking at 04/05 D22's (and if I'm honest prefer the look of the D22).

Have been researching, and found this forum to be a great source of information..

Now the chances of finding one for sale that has the mod done are probably slim, so I will probably need to get it done. Now I'm fairly mechanically profficient (can change belts/exhaust/brakes/bodywork/electrical etc) but the last time I stripped an engine was about 20 years ago, and didnt end well!!!!

So was wondering if anyone on here new of garages or mechanics who were experienced in this mod (and reliable) in the south east?

Paul

Well the one I was going to look at sold before I had the chance to see it!

So have contacted Jim and carried on reading all the information I can on this forum..

Not sure if I'm confusing myself though....

As I said have wanted one for a while (a D22) and never really looked at the newer D40. But it seems that most people on here (who as owners I would consider 'experts') seem to rate the D40 over the older shape.

Am wondering now whether i should hold off until I can get a D40 or jump in and get the best D22 I can?

I don't want to be driving along and regret much purchase every time a D40 flies past......

Well thats the question I suppose..

Is an average D40 better than a pristine D22?

Considering it's use will probably be 95% on road and 50/50 work/family vehicle.

I've tried a D22 a while ago and was impressed, I suppose the best thing to do would be to try one of each back to back..

Once you drive a D40 you wont buy a D22 IMO  :partycheer:

I run a D22 now but will be upgrading to a D40 next year,i find the D22 a very comfortable car to drive and it performs well offroad.Having said that the D40 is in a different league and miles ahead "car" wise but still as capable offroad,it really is just personal preference mate just have a drive of both and make your mind up

Bloody santander! just been told large cheques take an extra 2 days to clear, on top of the normal 5!!

how come 20 years ago when we used cheques all the time they only took 3 days??????

Anyway upshot is won't be getting truck until next week now
