Servicing -- is there a difference between r1 & r2 ?

I paid £250 for my first service of my D40 at my local stealer which was an r1 a year ago. Now they want £500 for an r2. I read the manual and for the life of me I can't see a significant difference between these two services -- not that would cause a doubling of the cost.
There's not much to the service, the usual inspection, change oil and filter, change fuel and cabin air filter.
The truck is 2 years old , still under warranty, but I will buy the bits and get a cheaper garage to do it.
Can anyone explain the difference in price or is it just another organised con ?

R2 is a bigger service than R1, more parts/filters labour etc, you can get an independant to service the truck, but you have to use genuine Nissan parts, and may be asked for proof of that in the event of a warranty claim
Sorry lil but I still don't see that,( I understand the warranty issue )-- but I can't see anything in the list in the manual -- could you tell me the major differences ?

IIRC, the R1 is oil and filter, air filter, washer fluid, grease, lube, tyre pressures etc.

R2, oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, pollen filters, diff oil, gearbox oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid etc.

I can't remember exactly what's done in each service but the info is on this site somewhere, the prices are no guide to the services as from members posts we see that different dealers charge different ammounts?

My R1 service was quoted £460+vat at one dealer, but i bartered another dealer to £300 inc vat.

Both services are imo over priced, so you either barter or go independant

I got an R2 for about 360.
However, fuel filter wasn't changed as mechanic said it was OK (****) and I'm certain they didn't swap the brake or steering fluid as I was watching them.
Very disappointed and regret taking truck there as it was the beginning of a few problems.
Moral of the story.
Make sure that when service manager says it's a cheap R2 make sure they use the tick box schedule in the service manual.
