:frown2: I have only been here two minutes and I need your help........... I have just picked my daughter up from school and noticed smoke/steam coming from the nearside wheel arch. As I got out I noticed a diesely kind of smell. I lifted the bonnet and there was a bit more smoke coming from the nearside part of the engine bay.

Any clues???

Its a clear, steam colour.

I'm hoping that's a good sign.

I managed to get it into the garage tomorrow.

Fingers crossed.
It depends!
If it happens just when the engine is cold then it could be a simple job.
If it happens all the time then it might be a gasket gone, and the coolant is getting into the engine and turning to the steam you see in the exhaust...

Hopefully it's just a holey exhaust!

before you go mad spending money , dont forget to look at the obvious which is hard when panic sets in ........was it raining has by any chance water or spray got on to the exaust or a hot brake , was there an odor to the steam ?? easy to ignore the obvious , we spent a few hours trying to locate a rattle on ladys car , turned out to be a loose jack handle ,

Looks like I'm gonna have to get my hands dirty.
I booked it into the garage and they were unable to reproduce the problem (story of my life).
Think I may try and find some time this weekend to have a mooch under the bonnet myself.
It hasn't happened again, but I am concerned by the 'diesley' smell.

Thanks for your time guys.
I will let you know what (if anything) I find.
