Hi, this has probably been raised several times before, but here is my query..
Got a grey import 52 pickup D22. Recently it seems to have started to overfuel, chucks out a lot of black smoke with a loss of power. This can go on for a long time.
Tried changing filters, fuel and using additive. Still the same. Have had the injectors tested and they don't appear to be a cause.
Could it be the EGR?

Can they be serviced/cleaned?
Is it possible to blank the EGR off with no ill effects?

Blanking the EGR is the best free thing you can do.
There's a whole thread on this on this site, well worth a read through.

Mine put out a bit of smoke when accelerating after i changed air filter but did a engine reset (idled for ten mins) and all OK afterwards, It must have got used to the old choked up filter. :?
