Hi there,

I stalled my 2003 D22, thought little of it, tried to start it seconds later and it turned over fine but would not fire up. I was in a remote location so awaited roadside assist who tried easy start and said it was coughing smoke back out of the air intake and concluded it was knackered.....
It was recovered and has been in a garage for some time now.
New fuel filter fitted primer pump till hard etc.
Using Easy start into the air intake engine fires up but will not keep running.
Fuel lines to injectors have fuel coming through fine.
With great effort once it warms up it will tick over but there is no throttle response and if turned off you're back to the easy start and waiting for it to get warm before it ticks over.
The mechanic says it ticks over really well and the engine seems absolutely fine.

All and any thought greatly appreciated

All of the above would be telling me to do a compression test, sounds like you're not getting enough compression to run properly till it warms a bit which can help.

If you're happy it's getting fuel you could also look at the air supply, make sure there are no restrictions anywhere along the system.

Is the EGR blanked?

Might also be worth checking the turbo and exhaust to make sure nothing is choking the engine there.

But as I say, I'd be doing a compression test first.
