Hi, I have a 2007 Nissab Nirvana and for the last day or two it has had problems starting. There are no codes showing any faults and the battery is at 13.4v without the car running. Is this too low? I have checked the alternator and it looks like it's doing its job when it's running. Wonder if I need a new battery? Thanks

13.4v sounds fine. Is the starter turning slowly, often a sign that the battery can't deliver the necessary amps?

It just clicks once on turning the key, the needles on the dash flicker too. This happened about 5 times this morning before it started as if nothing happened. Has started a few times since with no problems.

How did you confirm 13.4volts?
A GOOD 12v battery in standing condition e.g. overnight should show about 12.6v only.
If your multimeter or gauge shows 13.4 standing voltage, I would suspect your multimeter has a defect, i.e. reading high?
Even with the engine running, and a good alternator it should be around 14.2volts across the battery.
13.4 - 12.6 = .8v therefore the true reading of your battery may well be only 11.8volts?
If this is the case 11.8 is way too weak.
