Re: VP box fitted to d22

VPC is the type of tuning boxes that are fitted to pre common rail engines.

Mine is a second hand DTUK box that takes it from 133 to 162 hp and around 300nm to 360 nm torque.
Drives more like a d40 :thumbleft:

I reckon it pulls in 5th like it would have in 4th,really could do with 6th gear now
Will be interesting to see how economy works out after the novelty wears off
Last tankful was 29.9 including towing my mini digger around and some hardish driving with 3 six footers in the back

Keep us posted with this as am interested to see how it goes. Going to do this to mine shortly if it makes a noticable difference with no ill effects :thumbright:

Had the d22 out today with the `3`ton trailer on again :D Had to take the digger up a fair steep hill that I`ve been up before and it does pull much better, also starts of much better :thumbleft:

Thanks for the up-date :D
I know you got your's cheap on fleabay but when paying the ÂŁ350 for this unit would you say it's worth the money :?:
Obviously you wouldn't dare fit this to an 'un-modded' D22

Hi,it wasn`t that cheap at ÂŁ150 quid 2nd hand but worth a punt I suppose
I can get a VPC unit here in N.Ireland for under ÂŁ200 new as the guy has an offer on them but as I know very little about them I couldn`t recommend one
Another outfit are doing Powerklick for over ÂŁ350 so Abyss`s offer dosn`t sound too bad.

Buying mine 2nd hand was a bit chancey but it seems to work ok although I know nothing about settings etc and don`t have any tech backup either :(

Out and about again today :D seems more fun to drive although I would seldom rev it more than 3500rpm.Will drive it for a few tankfulls and then take it off again to see what the difference actually is without :pukel:
Any one know what way to adjust the little plastic screw to go up or down the settings :?:

Discussion starter · #11 ·
Was just wondering were the driving characteristics any different with adjustment, torque at different revs etc, also is there better settings for economy :?:
The settings on the d40 boxes give a varying range of outputs,so I was wondering would there be any difference with the more simple VPC system :thumbright:

Have now used half a tankfull and have covered 200 miles driving 3 miles to work, towing `3`ton trailer  a few times and booting it on every time I go through the gears :D
Seems to be doing better than I expected although the tank will empty quicker on the second half

Anyone know anything about the adjustments :?:

Still on the same tank of fuel with the box on,now got 320 miles on it and just reached the quarter mark.
Done at least a third of those miles with a trailer on.(About half of that with it `loaded` :D )
And I have been driving it on,it pulls well from 60 to 80 mph :D
Obviously the box is helping economy :thumbleft:

Still watching this thread diggerman so keep the info comming :thumbright:

You should be happy with that! Ive just scraped 400 miles from a full tank without towing a digger lol!

Drove on a back road today that I had test driven a mates d40 on,it has a few hills on it.
My d22 seemed to have every bit as much get up and go as the d40,I had them both in fifth gear along the same stretch, well pleased :thumbleft:

Hows your truck fairing with the chip bud?
