Hi all, serviced my 07 pathfinder (84k miles) today so after i was back up and running i fitted my new scv as cleaning the old one didnt really seem to help with random stalling at traffic lights which had gone away for the last month.
i took the old and new one apart to see if i could see/measure any differences, the both read the same on a meter, 2.7 ohms. both were identical in dimensions, piston moved freely on each, the one thing i did notice was the difference in diameter of the internal bore of the factory scv piston. the new one from Pf jones was slightly narrower and the holes were in different places. The new piston was also lovely and tight to the scv bore so i reassembled both, cleaned with a bit of carb cleaner and put the new one in, it felt a bit strange going in as the old one had just popped in before. but it went in with some persuation, ie"squeezed the **** out of it until it went in!" made sure o ring and gasket were seated properly of course. snugged down the bolts. re connected the plug, fuel line, moved dip stick and power steering fluid resevoir back to their homes.

performed a ecu/fuel pump reset, started first pick, sounded great, lovely and smooth, no hunting for idle, great throttle response as i had before i started having issues.
So i was obviously delighted, so i went for a short drive, everything seemed fine, no lag, great pull, next thing, pulled off in first at a junction, felt like i had to give more gas than i expected, it bogged down slightly and jeepy went into limp mode, threw an engine management light at me like an ungrateful git after giving it all this tlc!. pulled in, idle sounded fine, didnt stall. turned it on and off again, no limp mode but eml still on. im getting the code read tomorrow as i dont have an obd2 scanner but would anyone have any ideas on what this might be?

work i have already done includes,
Egr blank and delete
Remap
oil catch can
throttle body cleaned
maf cleaned (was filthy, made an unbelievable difference)
timing chains and clutch done 10k miles ago

im meticulous in the work i do to the jeep and its very well looked after but this is stumping me that the problem is worse after installing the new valve!

ill post the code once i get it read!

Thanks in advance.

So I got the code read this morning. P0089 fuel pressure regulator 1

Cleared the code. Went away until I was sat in Traffic and had a few episodes of limp mode. I issues at all while driving, only when moving off from idle. Eml came back on a while later then.
Any ideas?

Just to be clear, did you do the fuel pump reset (the pedal dance)?

A code reset or battery disconnect isn't enough!

And if you did, are you sure it worked?

I had a similar experience and cleared it by doing the pedal dance a couple more times.

Definitely the right scv as I got sent the wrong one before. To make sure they sent me the right one i gave pfjones my Vin. I'll do the peddle dance again. Twice for good measure and see if it does anything! It's only giving me trouble when I'm moving off from idle. But if I keep the revs high when I move off it stays normal. I'll post how I get on!

So I've just done fuel pump reset twice. Both times I started the engine the idle fluttered about for a sec or two then levelled off. Drove around basically stop starting imitating traffic and so far so good. No eml or limp mode. I'll test it out again later when it's good and hot to see if anything has changed. Maybe my fuel pump reset initially didn't work.
In regards to stripping the new scv I knew already the internals after seeing the old one so was confident that I could strip without scoring anything or introducing a new tolerance to the valve.
Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep the thread updated!

well after heating it up nicely (its 25 degrees here today!) took it for good spin and then into the city to see what it would do, so far...no limp mode, no eml and no more having to rev it up as much while taking off, seems i have sorted it!

ill keep an eye on it and see how it goes! hope this helps anyone else having similar issues

thanks guys
