Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

Some members have had the light stay on and wasnt sure if that was correct or not.

Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

Hi, tried this on my 06 D40 Nav, went through as stated with the exception that the engine management light did not flash, will this make a difference to the proceedure and the final result, cheers daveg

Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

If it doesn't flash you have your timing wrong with the proceedure. It needs to flash to work. Read out load and do the set again.

Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

Oh my god....... just done the reset and taken the truck out for a 20min drive........feels like it did new just forgot how responsive it was new! was only getting 18mpg (200-250miles per tank) reset the computer and it reads 24mpg with a mix of driving hard and fast plus slow down country lanes. Hopefully will now start to see more miles per tank.

Nissan Navara aventura auto 56reg lots of chrome and A/T tyres and thinking of fitting a DTE!!

Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

Can this be done to the D40 Navara's that has been manufactured without the DPF ?

Secondly, What do I do after the very last step ? Do I turn the ignition off and then start ? or do I just start the engine and drive when the EML is flashing ?

I own a 2009 D40 4x4 auto ( Latin American Market Model )

Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

hi guys ive read all comments i recently had a little bit of welding done and disconected the battery before this was done i was gettin about 32.2 on motorway im now gettin 24 :scratch:also ive noticed it seems a bit smokey (more noticabled at night under headlights) could a reset help sort this out and will the reset work on a standard 55 plate nav ???? :?:

Re: HOW TO RESET ECU AND FUEL PUMP.

Is this reset worth doing on a 59 plate if it's running pretty well? Will it make it smoother or if it ain't broke don't try & fix it?!?

ROB CAN YOU MAKE THIS A STICKY PLEASE BOSS!

Thanks to Boohoo for reading through the workshop manual, resetting ECU and FUEL pump MAY help in cutting down on that horrible tapping noise that the D40 suffers from.
Ive carryed out this reset and the engine is alot smoother, more responsive, less smokey and alot less tappy.

To carry out the reset carry out the following

Turn ingnition on so all dash lights come on.

Wait 3 seconds

PUMP accelerator pedel 5 times within 5 seconds....

with foot now OFF accelerator wait 7 seconds...

After 7 seconds press and hold down accelerator pedel for 10 seconds...

Atfer 10 seconds the Engine Managment Light will start to flash, at this point remove foot from accelerator.

the Nav is now in diag mode, so let the EML flash for a bit. the press and hold the acclerator pedel down for more than 10 seconds..this will then reset ECU and fuel pump etc......and put them into learning mode.

NOTE: When the EML light is flashing, this is listing possible fault codes... so if you know how to read the fault codes or know the sequences then you can figure out any possible faults with your Nav with out getting the dealer to do it!! :D
Once at last stage of reset will light go out on own or shall i just switch off ignition ?

Thanks
PAUL

At that stage, start the engine and go for a drive, a few miles say, then by that time it should have reset
