Yes this is something I never got round to on the old nav, but would like to now...

Any tips on best place to get the fan?

From bitter experience kenlowe fans are not well made. They claim to have made them better; more waterproof and better bearings, but really they are not OEM quality and will not have decent reliability.

As for cable ties around the radiator fins, how can that possibly be right?

Drove to the chippy this evening which is quite a few miles (worth the distance) anyway normal driving, not tearing the bum out of it and not driving miss Daisy.

Showed a 2mpg increase in economy, so i know it's not a lot, but to Euro 4 auto owners, it's a welcomed surprise.

Probably going to adjust my DTE and do an ECU reset soon and see if i can gain a bit more, not having the viscous roar is weird though

Anyway i will update as and when

Paul, i'll try and find out where mine was bought and price etc

The OP said he fitted a 16" Fan so assume a 14" would fit no problem either.

I am considering taking the original fan off and just not bothering for a few months over the winter. Its used only on the road, doesn't go off road, it wont ever sit still with the engine running for long periods and I live up norf! Might put an electric one on when it warms up again in spring.

You'd probably be ok doing that, mine doesn't come on at all unless i leave the truck ticking over for a long time, usually the secondary (air con) fan kicks in and keeps things cool enough under normal conditions

Removed it yesterday just by undoing the 4 bolts and getting it past the cowling without needing to remove anything else. Temperature hasn't changed at all yet. Combined with the EGR blank the MPG has gone from 28 to 30 mpg following an ECU reset.

That's a nice result mate, it all helps :thumbright:

Done this to my D22 last year and drove it for 4 months like it.
I did get stuck in traffic a few times but the temp gauge never got too hot and if it had I would have just killed the ignition 'just in case'.
Might do it again this year as it only takes a few minutes to do.
