A couple of times now I've noticed a hot/burning type smell around the back of the truck. Having had a scoot about underneath earlier, as I grabbed the towbar to move under I practically burnt my hand. The exhaust exit is very close to the back of the towbar bar (if that makes sense) The bar is too hot to touch !!!!

All fitted by Nissan but the heat can't be doing the paint on the towbar much good !!!

Have noticed the smell but not investigated! Thanks saved we getting muddy knees :smile2:

You could get a side/corner exit exhaust to avoid it, or maybe wrap the tow bar in exhaust heat shield?

I have looked at mine now and cannot see any scorching of the paint and I suspect its Powder coat anyhow. if it starts to look jaded I shall put on some black exhaust paint. I actually could not believe after 3k miles how clean the exhaust was ,no soot at all.

3k miles, I've only done 600 in 5 weeks !!!!!
I'll be on for 35-40k miles a year when it arrives! Lets see how reliable these nissans are ;)

Only got mine yesterday so thought it was cos it was new but i have noticed the smell, i also noted the temp gauge is higher than normal, has anyone else noticed this
I'm not an engine mechanic or specialist but there are 3 things I know this could cause
1.The radiator hasn't got the fluid
2.The fan doesn't work
3. The waterpump doesn't work

If you've got to drive, put the heather on max heat and full blast, open the windows a bit and drive it like that to disperse the heat.

Hopefully someone else has more knowledge than me, but it's a start :cheers2:

Thats has high as it gets but they usually sit halfway so am a little concerned especially when its not warm yet, wheres everyones elses go to
It also feels hot inside the car

Looks high to me. Will take more notice next time but think mine is normally in the first third (if ya see what I mean :-D).

That's not right, somethings either interfering with the signal and giving a false reading or it's actually got a fault and is getting that hot which is very bad for a new vehicle. I'd be ringing the dealer to collect it on a flatbed and not driving it anywhere as you may do some serious damage.

As above get it back to the dealer asap! As also mentioned, if you have to drive it back to the dealer get the windows down and the heater on flat out (assuming it produces heat, if not its probably water pump failure!)

Kept an eye on it this morning (but didn't take a picture). Mine is a mirror image of yours, needle lower side, if you see what I mean. It didn't get near the half way point.

Kicked off at dealer, they only wanted to book it in.
Then they were gonna send service manager out with a Quashqao, told em if it gets drove from here i dont want it back, anyhow git recovered and swapped for my D40
I think its the gauge as it starts at over 1/4 on gauge
Can i reject it and whats people thoughts on rejection, only thing is how long im waiting
