Ive been chuntering on since March but if usual lazy fashion not done anything about it, I'm a sheep so will follow if someone sorts whatever is best!

I miss the outside temp gauge too especially when everyone is saying how hot is it where you are ?? its xDeg here & I haven't a clue, even my missus little cheap Citroen has outside temp. I've got an after market screw on tyre pressure/tyre temp unit which did show about right temperature before setting off, but during cold weather I'll miss it more as really handy knowing what temp it is.

I was looking into a rear view mirror with temp gauge solution but not had response from the manufacturer, also looked expensive at least around ÂŁ200-ÂŁ300 :surprise:

I want something but want it to be an OEM looking solution not some extra box blue tacked to the dash! :wink2:

I've got a very old car where the coolant temperature is a thermometer attached to the radiator cap, visible from the drivers seat.
Perhaps you could bluetack a thermometer to the bonnet? Colour coded of course.

On a more serious note, I can't imagine how it could be added without looking rubbish, perhaps behind the sun visor so out of sight?

As yet we have not taken delivery of our NP300 but:-

Is this a NP300 dash layout? Was on a Nissan website showing piccy's of a vehicle at the Frankfurt show. Not sure if it is correct as the door open bit looks like an SUV??
But if it is, there is a temp gauge at the top right hand corner!

Did the pre production models have it, but omitted in production??

Just noticed the petrol cap is on the right and not the left..... And no 4x4 graphic at bottom right.
Wrong piccy posted by Nissan. Still there is hope of a software upgrade......

Pretty sure that's a Qashqai dash looking at it

The pic above is possibly a number of Nissan's as the T32 Xtrail uses the same dash too.

I'm not sure about your models but down here the top of the range model (STX) has the wiring for the sensor but when even though it's powered at the plug it won't come up on the dash. (apparently it does register as being plugged into the OBD data stream). There is a guy looking into the Bosch source data to see why it won't register on the dash and if he comes up with an answer I'll be sure to share the info.

I have a ScanGauge I'll be moving over from my Patrol, which should be able to interrogate the ambient air temp sensor. I'll let you know if it works. The intake air temperature definitely does, but this is always a bit warmer than ambient.

Just found the following brief description on a car suppliers website:

now ordering the New Nissan Navara Euro 6 Model for September Delivery
Just a few changes>
Vehicle is just badged up as Navara, not NP300 Navara
Outside temperature gauge added
Ad Blue system added for Euro 6 emissions

Maybe you'll be able to find out what they have done and get a retro fit for initial np300's

How annoying, Couldn't give a dam about the Euro 6 rubbish but the temp gauge being added a couple of months after mine comes is very annoying. Lets hope its a programming change and it can be one in a software update to the earlier vehicles.

On a more serious note, I have developed a small theory...

like some others have reported I have noticed that the heater in the NP300 can sometimes blow quote hot, some days it seems to be freezing or melting your contact lenses and nothing in between.

I have noticed this can be the case early in the morning, my theory is that the car is monitoring the outside temp in some way and perhaps cranking up the internal heating to reflect lower early morning outside temps??

quite literally, even with the "auto" function off, you can have the heating set at 16' and its chilly, set it to 17' and its hot, really hot air coming out, then other times 17' will blow much colder...

anyway, all this waffle may mean that there is an outside temp monitor, just not a display??

sorry for my rambling theory....

Jason

Agreed, I'll be furious if after wait mine doesn't come with outside temp. Could live with it when wasn't an option
So by Christmas they'll be selling with the auto windscreen wipers as well then.

Probably another programming update...!

It would be a great PR stunt if Nissan were to roll out some of these abscent and missed features when you take the truck in for a service. I think they owe it to the loyal customer base and anyone for that mater that has purchased an NP300 over the competition. Afterall, next time we buy a truck there will be a lot more vehicles to choose from.
Fingers crossed but not holding breath....:really
