Sadly mine still hasnt come, although my hardtop is ready I've nothing to put it on! Now early July for the vehicle I'm praying to be surprised and it be early.

Tot a message from road ranger today : no rh4 hardtop before mid september. I ordered it 5 weeks ago and it should have been here already. Not happy with this treatment so I will probably cancel my order.

Considering aeroklas or alpha type e now.

Aeroklas has a lift up doors version like the road ranger. Type e looks better imho, and has a 100% opening front window for cleaning the truck window, and it comes with roof rail system.

Anyone seen one of these in real life?

I've ordered the Aeroklas. I like the fact it's ABS not GRP and from all I've read on here they are good quality.

So 4x4AT just told me that the Aeroklas with lift up side windows is now not due in until end of September! Bit of a bummer so I cancelled my order and re ordered an Aeroklas with just the pop out windows. They are due in tomorrow so I should have by the end of next week!

Ill post pictures when on!

Fitted the eagle rear central locking kit for the tailgate at the weekend.

It might be obvious to some, but you need to run a cable all the way down the chassis from the rear tailgate to the passenger footwell. The only way into the footwell seemed to be through the bulkhead from the engine bay behind the glovebox. To be honest it was a pain in the ****, I'd get someone to do it for me if I were starting over.

Also, be careful of the wiring loom in the footwell. You want the LIGHT blue with silver trace, and the beige with silver trace for the MALE plug... The instructions tell you neither of the two things in capitals. :slaphead

Otherwise though, works well.
I know what you mean. I've just taking delivery of 2 road ranger elite canopies and the instructions, especially the wiring, leaves a lot to the imagination.

It requires a feed from the brake light, straight forward, but the connection for the central locking and heated rear window is a bit vague.

It wasn't clear which side of the connection, plug or socket, the wires have to be connected as the wire colours are different either side.

Like yourself, with a multimeter, I narrowed down the C/L to light blue for unlock and beige/grey spots for lock on the plug side. The heated rear window doesn't appear to connect to this connection as stated by road ranger so will need some more info from the supplier.

The supplied loom is a bit **** to be honest, basically a piece of rubber 5 core electrical flex. I've bought some convoluted over tube to add some protection and I'm not to keen to cut into the nissan loom. I think I'll use some thin crimps on the C/L wires and just push these into the back of the plug connector, it's just a pulse signal so no need for it to carry current.

I'm a bit concerned from a security point of view with this electrical connection, I'm going to do some tests but I'm a bit concerned you can just cut into this cable as it runs under the truck and pulse the C/L with a 9V battery. If this is the case I might look for a better more secure route for the loom.

Seen both the alpha and the road ranger in the flesh today. Both are indeed premium tops. Liked the road ranger more. ITS looks are distinguished and modern. I think lift Doors have a big adventage. The rear is accessibles when parked in tiny spaces and it gives the ability to divide the bed in two levels (2nd level right under the lift doors and removable)
I have a bedslide and I think this setup will offer me great flexibility.
Only thing missing would be vents for my dogs. Think I could use the front slidings window for that.
Don't suppose you took any photos?
I had been looking at alpha type -e, only one I 've seen in flesh was on a ranger and wasn't keen.
Also now discounted the sammit, v2 is higher than cab.
The truckman with flimsy plastic cowl that goes over the tailgate spoiler doesn't look good. Already seen a couple of damaged ones on the road

More problems picking hardtops than pickup!

My truck has arrived and been fitted with the SJS Gullwing. I'm generally very happy with it but my main thoughts are below.

Straight forward fit, simple to wire the brake light up (although the wiring colours in the instructions were wrong, it didnt take a genius to work it out! The interior light is LED and battery powered but there is no central locking, its all done from the keys which I knew about and isnt the biggest drama. I have to admit the Gull Wings are better than I imagined and allow brilliant access to the load bed from the side of the truck. In yesterdays thunderstorm in the morning it rained very heavily for about 3 hours straight and there wasnt a drop inside the load bed so I was quite pleased with that.

The colour match is probably 95%, I'm not totally happy with it although I've not contacted them about it yet. It could well just be that the top is fibreglass and the rest of the truck is metal and there is always a colour difference between the two materials.

Hi folks, thanks for the updates and prompt photos of your new hardtops :clappy:

Could you please do me a favour and take a side view oof just the rear half of your top's and a couple of rear views, one top open and one closed?

Thanks in advance

Now that's a fast response :thumbright:
The top looks far better than the stock photos I've been able to find after a good old Google

Seal on tailgate also looking better than expected, looks like a good fit

Do you want some of the SJS as well?

It fits really well mate I have to be honest. It looks pretty watertight.. only place you can see light is each top corner of the tailgate.

It's also ABS not fibreglass so it's really durable and doesn't chip as easily.
