My ones being bought back also, initially it passed. After i removed the tub to clean it i found quite a few holes with the needl gun. Opened new case with Nissan and they made me a decent offer. However with the money i cant afford a newer D40 which i could try protect before it rots so im considering a D22 if there any decent ones. I know they had engine issues, is there a date they were modified or recalled regarding the engine issues?
D22's were NEVER re-called for the engine defect, according to Nissan blowing up an engine at 70mph in the overtaking lane of the M25 or M6 was NOT a life threatening, dangerous event!
Even very late ones 2005 were blowing up, Nissan never acknowledged the fault, therefore they never stated a safe build date, IGNORE the safe engine number bo**ocks, this mis-information never existed, it was a figment of imagination from another website.
Trucks with replacement Nissan OE engines are no better, as there is NO way of knowing the replacement engines age, commonly they blow between 60-80,000 miles, but have been known to go at 30K and in excess of 100K miles.
IMHO the only safe ones are upgraded ones using the correct parts, either by a competent, decent and honest owner or Billcar, either way demand to see receipts proving the proper parts were used, there are other self appointed YD25DDTi engine experts offering cheap rebuilds, avoid these like the plague, never buy one with a re-ground crankshaft!
Your problem might be that once upgraded, owners seem to hang on to them, as they are very good, reliable and economical trucks, not one upgraded truck has blown it's engine, that's over 10 years now.

Agreed, Lookskyward1.

There was also a recent article in the Irish Times about the chassis problem.

Have you seen it?

Cheers

Well I've just sold mine. It had a patch of corrosion welded just over a year ago to pass the MOT, it passed this years MOT with no issue so I sold it while it had a years ticket on it as I just didn't have the energy to fight Nissan as the corrosion will appear again at some point as it had already started.

'55 plate SE King Cab, 80k miles and I sold it for ÂŁ5750 which is about the going rate for a King Cab with that mileage but is way more than I would ever have gotten out of Nissan.

Problem is, what do I buy now? I've about 9k max and need a 4x4 that can carry a trials bike. I was looking at a Discovery 3 HSE (9k for a 2005 with 110k miles!) but apparently they are riddled with expensive problems also!

Don't like the BMW X5, don't like old Ford Rangers (can't afford a newer one), don't like L200's, only thing I like the look of other than a Discovery 3 is a bloody Navara... but it seems even a 2014 could have issues. Sadly Nissan aren't having any more of my money.

I'm currently driving mine and the Wife's Summer car, an MX-5 which is quite a bit different to the Navara and nowhere near as practical.

No missed that, I'll have a look.

It's good to see the press are finally waking up to the issue.

Just been offered ÂŁ6095 for a clean 2006 Outlaw with 90,000 on the clock. Have they started lowering their offers or was I overly optimistic about the value of my car?
That sounds like a good offer to me. How long have you had it?

Under a year. Paid approx ÂŁ8k.

From scanning back in this thread, in June last year Gramas was offered ÂŁ7,650 for a 55 plate Adventura with 90k on it. matt21 had a friend who was offered ÂŁ7925 for an '06 with 130,000 on it. From the FB page, someone called Oscar was offered ÂŁ6,000 for '05 with 114k on (so 1 year older than mine, 25k more miles than mine.... ÂŁ95 less offer?). Stacey on the FB group was offered ÂŁ6995 for an '06 with 75k on the clock. Guy called Michael on the FB group was offered ÂŁ7635 for an '05 Outlaw with 88k miles + Premium pack...

Not sure what sort of success I'll have with arguing with them.

Ta, it's a nuisance I didn't want to have to deal with though!!
Hi HeliX

From what I've read online they will not negotiate prices at all unfortunately which is crazy really? I am in very similar boat to you almost identical circumstances.

My 06 outlaw 86K , 6195! I was optimistic for more having seen some of the other prices- I know they say gross market retail value but it seems they are just plucking prices out the air!?

Good luck !

Just wondered if this has happened to any of the Euro 3 chassis's or is this issue on all D40's?

Had mine MOTd Yesterday he was VERY particular with the inspection on the Chassis but said it was one of the cleanest he had seen pleased with that under seal time come summer me thinks still cost me a flippin bulb though, there is always something!
