Nope, but then haven't looked. Have gravel so the odd spot doesn't show up. Will check tomorrow.

No evidence on mine, it lives on a hard standing and has now covered more than 22k miles. I would have expected the garage to have picked up on it when it had its service last month.

Where did you hear this?

I took mine to my Nissan main dealer yesterday as I'd noticed oil on my drive.
They put it up on the ramp and confirmed that the seal between the gearbox and engine had failed and that this will be the 3rd NP300 they've had in with exactly the same fault.
I did a search on-line and found the following......

Thanks for that. :thumbright:

The lack of oil leaks was one of the benefits of owning a Japanese vehicle, with all of their experience you would have thought this would be a thing of the past especially for a new vehicle.

I hope the Nissan techs can fix it for you, not an easy job.

Had the rear crank seal replaced on mine with 6500 on the clock, was leaking oil on the drive.

Then the idiots managed to spray oil all over the engine bay and failed to tell me.

Hence an engine bay clean and new engine cover by said dealer.

As to say, I wont be using that dealer again!!

Annoying!

Did you clean the engine bay or have it done 'professionally'?

If you did it yourself, how did you go about it and did you use any products or just a standard steam clean?

When I collected my Nav, the engine bay was gleaming. When I had the chassis treated and sealed it came back absolutely caked but then this was to be expected with all the bristle brushing and undersealing.

Many thanks

Mine went in for an oil leak back in October. I'd noticed tiny drops of oil wherever it was parked but it wasn't losing enough to show on the dipstick - I did 2k miles before it went in and it hadn't even dropped to 3/4 on the dipstick.

I'd had a nose underneath to see if I could find where it was coming from but there was a light misting everywhere I looked. I suspected it was leaking from, and running down the turbo return pipe.

The garage said it was leaking from the sump gasket and wanted to remove and reseal it so they could have it out of the garage the following day, but Nissan wanted them to put a new sump on instead, which would mean waiting a few days for the part- I can't understand why Nissan would suggest this as the new sump would need sealing exactly the same way as the existing sump...they aren't sealed with an actual gasket, just gasket seal.

16k miles later and no oil loss or spots of oil.

Thumbs up to the garage for fixing it first time.

Thumbs down to the garage for parking my truck in a spot where the car transporter turns and not leaving enough room, meaning my truck got a clump on the tear tub and a dented rear arch!

Don't know if its related to the sump gasket, but I get a warning on the dash that the oil level was low (oil light lit and a readout guage was showing on the MFD). Was surprised to see this as I had only checked about a week before hand.

Checked at roadside and there was some in there, but topped it up to max and carried on. It only took about 2 litres so not short by any stretch.

Its booked in on the 30th. Will mention the sump gasket, but in this case it might be a sensor. Will have a look underneath at some point.

Also, its a shame that the oil level readout is generally available and only apparently shows on error. I was pretty sure the Eu5 I test drove had this as a menu option, but its not on my Eu6. Can any confirm?

I had the same readout on my display while I was down in Cornwall on holiday (400 miles from home). It was late evening, so couldn't buy oil anywhere. The stick was showing it as minimum, and I was due to drive home first thing the following morning.

I phoned RAC and they sent out a local agent who put a litre in and it was back at max.

Cost me ÂŁ13 for the oil.

Interesting that we have encountered the same issue. Has it happened again?

Not yet, but this was only a couple of weeks back. My truck is booked in for it's first service next week, and I've never had to top up the oil until now.
