Crikey...
I'm shocked.... In a good way for a change.

Egr blank going in on Wednesday, and new filters etc... Will retest it when I'm back at work next wk.

Just reading through this thread as I've just worked out my mpg and it doesn't seem believable looking at the figure you guys have.

Last wk, my 05 d22 tank was on ÂĽmarker, filled it up to the brim... Covered 577 miles during my weekly commuting (@3.50am (no traffic) - 20% of journey is national speed limit roads and 80% motorway - travelling at 55-60mph - unladen.

Once the tank hit ÂĽmarker again I refilled to the brim a total of 54.4 litres, and noted the trip mileage of 577 miles..

According to the mpg calculator I used (imperial gallon) that's 48.2 mpg...

Bog stock truck as far as I know, no egr blank yet etc... It seems way off what I was expecting...

Thoughts?
My thoughts are with an MPG return like that, do you fancy towing me and my D40 around? I'll contribute a little to fuel here and there..!

That fuel economy is very impressive. :thumbright:

The (lighter) D22 is pretty good with fuel economy, given your nice smooth and steady driving style I totally believe your figures and results. Fit a set of free wheeling hubs on the front axle and you'll do even better. :clap
My D22 has just done 377 on a tank from nearly empty to nearly empty. It is pretty thirsty, and that was driving it steady, I have halved that towing though!

On an aside, the farmers around here are averaging 22-23mpg in their Landies!

:laugh2: Ha ha Carouser, yes mate, that's no prob.

You know what, tried deleting because of button probs, but up shot is. V6 2190 miles mixed driving up to and around Highlands and back. Not specially light footed, DTUK tuning box and Vortex pipe, just shy of 30 mpg, not too shabby. Worked out with a pencil not truck computer[emoji6] Love my truck!?

2003 D22, regularly returns 37 mpg (no trick computers involved), usually shows 550 miles on the trip counter before the fuel lamp lights up.
Actually running on tyres two sizes larger than standard (265/75-16's) so distance covered could well be a little more.
It has EGR blank, free wheeling hubs, electric rad fan (off Toyota hi-lux), tyre pressures 42f 38r.
When I bought it almost 10 years ago and it was standard it returned 24.6 mpg.
It did suddenly drop a year ago, investigations quickly showed a common D22 problem, the hand brake mechanism had seized on a rear wheel, easily sorted, and back to normal.

Currently at a rest stop near Le Mans going back to Calais

Truck is loaded with 2 kids the misses and 2 weeks worth of cloths and stuff and a lot of red wine

The ac is on cold and we have been sitting at a phone gps confirmed 130kph for most of the way, I am averaging 27.8 mph with a tank distance of 426 miles according to trip computer

Towing most of the time or doing 90 on a motorway...

Saw 50mpg average on a 60 mph crawl home on the M6 the other day

Interesting reading! Before buying my 2004 D22 I really had to wrestle with the 23mpg figures quoted by the previous owner. I was hoping for 29mpg which is what I was returning in every day driving in my LWB 1.9 Vauxhall Vivaro. My Saab 1.9 dti 110bhp was only returning an average of 40mpg with my heavy right foot.

Since owning the Nav I haven't gone much above 60mph & change up through the gears at 2k RPM.

Cost me ÂŁ70 from empty light to empty light. Covered 270 miles at a cost of ÂŁ1.18 per ltr which bought me just a tad over 59 ltrs. Using the MPG calculator says that I'm only getting 21 MPG

Driving is a mixture of commute 42 miles return x3 a week, then a mixture of school runs, green lanes or fire roads of no more than 10 miles in any given week.

Oh well, still happy with it though, although based on previous posts further investigation may be required?

Only mods that I am aware of are the huge knobbly off road tyres & a boy racer sucking performance air filter.

Actually going to revise my MPG to 23 mpg based on my tacho reading. I bought the truck on 30th Sept so it has been in my ownership for exactly 31 days in which I have covered 1474 miles according to the trip metre (baring in mind big wheels). In those four & a bit weeks I've put ÂŁ339 diesel in her which using the www.mpg calculator puts her just a tad under 23.5 mpg

I can live with that:grin2:

NP300 N-CONNECTA 190PS

Euro 3 [ ] Euro 4 [ ] Euro 5 [ ] Euro 6 [ Y] Manual [Y] Auto [N] Chipped/Mapped [N] Average MPG [36.7]

New engine with only 1800 miles on it so still very tight. Expecting significant improvement once it has loosened up after 20-30K miles.

36.7mpg (computer) was a combination of town/city driving at peak time, rural lanes, A road and motorway at steady 56-60mph. All done carrying 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. 25% of mileage was done with approx. 150Kg of payload in pickup bed. Speedo reads 8% over so I'd estimate actual economy at 35mpg. I will update here once we have done a few thousand miles.

Apologies, this should have been Euro5 not Euro6

mpg

for those of you who would like to work out your m p g without using the one in your truck divide your litres by your tripometer milage then multiply the result 4.546 and that will tell your m p g hopr this helps some of you out .

Sad to say my V6 has dropped to about 30.2, possibly owing to the extremely cold weather here (13C daytime, but should get back to 19C soon)...

You could always hitch up and go somewhere warmer.
Damn right! How's Morocco right now? Or as my net-friend has done, towed a 5th wheel to the Gambia! Not sure about exotic diseases there though....

We went for 3 pints & 3 wines this evening, outside by the pool at 7-8pm and I had to wear long trousers and a fleece :(
Outrageous, but OK, given €3.80 a round I suppose...
Let's hope the cold snap stops soon...

We are getting into practice for Scotland next summer.... (not the prices though)

The NP300 is growing on me every time I drive it. I did a 120 mile motorway journey at a steady 56-58mph (60-62 on the speedo) this morning and the mpg (computer) was showing 47.7mpg. Obviously I expect the actual to be a little lower than that due to speedo overreading but I'd guess it will be around 44mpg? This was winter conditions, about +5c air temps and I had my headlights and heater on. I'll have a better feel for it once I have a few more fillups under my belt. I'll start putting the fuel ups on fuelly next week.

I filled up with Shell VPower diesel 200 miles ago and it has started to have some effect. The engine is definitely quieter, smoother and more responsive and the economy is rising nicely now. Our overall average on this tank is now 38mpg (computer) and we've used approx 1/3 tank for 200 miles so in theory 600 mile range on a tank. We generally use VPower or Ultimate in all our trucks and Land Rovers as it has always given good results, seems to give more measurable results with big 4x4's than it does in smaller cars. Also VPower doesn't seem to suffer the big drops in mpg that you get with normal diesel when they switch to winter blend.

Also so impressed with the ride quality and seat comfort of the NP300.
