like everyone else on here I am considering getting a Navara.
So am I right in thinking to avoid the issue with the D22 I should be looking at cars that are registered 05 and above??

Welcome.
If you want to avoid the d22 then get the d40, the cut over wasn't at a registration change so the year won't help.

D22 is the perfect vehicle for a mechanic or skilled diyer otherwise go for D40

thks for the advice,

i am looking at around the £9000-10000 mark (VAT included)
would you recommend me getting a good D22 and then getting the engine mods done or try to find a D40 for that price( have been looking around and not finding many..looked on auto trader, exchange and mart, piston, vcars)

Iseally with a hard top too???

You are definitely in D40 territory for that money. The recent snowy weather in the UK has pushed up many 4x4 prices, I would hang on a couple of months for some better deals.

If thats the money your thinking of spending i wouldnt even consider a D22. I got my 06 plate outlaw for a lot less than that from a dealer. If you have cash for a private deal you should be able to do alot better than i got. Why take the chance when you can get a D40 :thumbleft:

but I am still a little conused on how to tell the difference between a D22 and a D40. Most adverts dont specify them as a D22/D40 so I assumed the D40 was a replacement for the D22 and came in at a specific year so should be able to tell by reg????
