Hi to all you lucky guys with your new Navara's. Can you tell me if the new 2010 nav engine is a complete new engine, or is it just the old one tweaked up a bit.
Different dealerships tell you it's a new engine, and others say it's the old one tweaked.Cheers Davy

I was under the understanding that its was tweaked

The 190bhp 2.5 DCI is the same engine with a few alterations
The new 3.0 V6 DCI is a new engine thats Nissan and Renualt now use.

hmmm... interesting...

So how have they eeeked a few more BHP out of it and increased the economy?? Could you plug an ECU off a new one onto an old one to achieve the same results?

well from these pics, everything looks the same apart from the boost pipes and angle of boost pipe from turbo, poss different turbo also, ECU looks different and the plugs onto it and it doesnt say DCI on the engine cover

Has the oil filler moved, just to make it even more awkward to top the oil up!?!?!?!?

The new engine has the following changes:
new cylinder heads featuring parallel ports,
a new variable nozzle turbo with electric control and
an increase in the direct injection pressure from 1800 bar to 2000 bar.
Also a slightly different EGR system.

About the only thing the same as earlier motors is the block and injectors.

Just asked a servicing question in a new thread, prob should have put it here ........?? Does/should this engine need extra maintanence ????
