Hi Guys

I went up to Billcar on the weekend to pick up my block (had to have new cylinder liners put in, long story!) and while up there Dave had a nav in (surprise surprise!!) that had had a reground crank put in (not by Billcar I hasten to add), the crank was .5mm oversize on the big ends and stranded on the mains.
The pictures below show the result of this foolishness, the crank had snapped in half on number 4 journal.
Granted the truck had done 12000 miles (I think that's what Dave said) since the work was done, but it ultimately failed.
I hope this is picked up by Google so that other poor sods that are getting ripped off by muppets who think they know what they are doing learn a lessen DONT REGRIND NISSAN NAVARA YD25 CRANKS IT DOSENT WORK.
And one more thing this is not the only one Dave has had in that has had this happen to it.

Rant over!! :D

Thanks for providing hi-res photos. As you can see the cracks started (and indeed finished) at the radius, it may have been as simple as a sharp edge on the corner of the journal that caused a crack to start.

Cycles to failure:
Assuming 40mph average speed that 12,000miles is only 300 hours use.
300 hours at 2000rpm is 36 million cycles. If you only count firing cycles then 18 million.

They sure rack up numbers quick.
