2008 D40 Adventura

The air con has stopped working now!
Thankfully, it's not that bad a deal even down here in Spain for the winter but it would be nice if I find out it's something simple that I can sort myself?

Blower and vent functions all OK.

Switch on aircon button and although it shows a/c on the panel, no cold air just ambient temp being blown through.
Checked two fuses, one under dash L/H side and one under bonnet L/H side - both OK.

Viewed what I think is the aircon clutch (front, lower L/H side of engine) and the centre section with 3 large bolt heads on it doesn't spin up when I turn on aircon? Is this right?

Any ideas please chaps?

Thanks

I had the same with mine the air con would not kick in because it was low on refrigerant had it filled and it worked but then found out I had a hole in the condenser common on the d40 as they are not very well protected at the front of the vehicle. For me I had to have a new condenser fitted. Have you been using it regularly or is it you have tried it and now it’s not working?

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.

I don't use it that often as i'm more of an open the window type guy. Don't really like using the aircon but as I'm aware that can cause problems, I run it up a few times a year to to keep it "loose".
It was definitely working back in the UK before we came down here in November but as it rarely gets that hot down here in winter it's been a while since we used it.
We came back to the car parked in full sun after visiting a local town last week and the dash said 35 deg!!!!!!! so we thought we'd turn it on but no dice.
Not the end of the world, I'll try and find an aircon specialist in Ayr (Scotland) when we get back to the UK in late Feb' to start work again.

Just to clarify please............
was I looking at the right thing under the bonnet? Should the centre of that pulley spin up when I turn on the aircon?

Once again guys, thanks a lot. Now going back to cleaning my truck in about 19 deg'.
Snow & ice my aÂŁ$e ! Not if I can help it! :)

Yes you should see the clutch activating as the pump Kicks in by your description you are looking in the correct place. I leave the air con on all year round never really turn it off you can hear it kick in and you hear what sounds like pressure being released in the passenger footwell.

The drive clutch on the Air con will not operate unless there is enough gas in the system this is an electrical safety system to stop you screwing up the compressor as the refrigerant also carries the lubricant.
