Hi All, bought 05 D22 last year with a fully recond engine. Whilst I was aware of the B/E issues, I thought the fully recond engine would last for a while until I got around to the bearing mod...well, it hasn't
I caught it prior to rod through cases, but the knocking suggests considerable B/E bearing wear, so I am prepared for scored crank etc. I haven't stripped it down yet (recent broken wrist!!), so I don't know the extent of the damage.
The recond engine did have a reground crank, and after reading on the forum that the D22 cranks really arn't suitable for a regrind, I am expecting to have to replace crank.
I have a few questions: firstly, is metal spraying of the crank a viable option? if so, any suggestions for a reliable company/expected costs etc.
secondly, is the D40 short block a viable option to replace the D22? Are any mods needed, are they extensive.. any info would be appreciated, or please point me to the thread I haven't seen.
finally, when rebuilding engine, are there anyother key mods I should be doing? I plan to get seal mod from Billcar.
Thanks for any help,
Andy
PS. really like the Nav, does everything I want, just a pity about bottom end.
