just wondering as the d22 has 133 bhp and the d40 has 171 bhp as anyone driven both and is the d40 noticeable faster.
Also i see i can have the d22 chipped to 165 bhp, has anyone done this and did they notice a big improvement in performance.

My D40 was in for repair and the dealership kindly lent me a D22 as a courtesy.
In my opinion the D22 was not my personal preference. A little too low to the ground for me, a long gearbox, very bouncy ride, steering was like a boat, and very flat in comparison. Also the plastic interior was not for me.
Everyone likes different things though, which is why we all drive different cars.

I had the best d22 you can get witch is the SA import Hardbody 3.0 16v TD that had was chipped to 178 bhp and still wasn't no where near the speed of a d40...if you drive/own a d22 and see a D40 on the traffic lights just look the other way or you will scuss the day you ever bough that d22 :lol:

I'm just back from my first back-to-back 7h days with the D40. I would never have thought a truck would do this well barreling down the motorway all day long doing 150 - 170 km/h. I repeatedly saw 185 on the GPS (200 on the speedo) on level stretches. Stability in curves was as good as or better than my old MB C180. Comfortable as well. Only downside is 22 mpg average in the 1600 km, hopefully get a bit better with a bed cover...

It had Nos fitted, plus a remapped ecu.

yeh that might make it faster off the mark but what about top end as it wont rev past 105 mph not even with nos would it ?...well not without going bang :lol:
I still dont see even a heavy modded d22 beating a standard d40 on the motorway...i mean the d40 has got 6 gears and a top end clock speed of nearly 130 mph if you get a good manual ! 8)
 
Nissan qoute less than you top speed. I have seen your video which is cool, but mine can do better. Once you remap it can do more. Take this I remapped one of my sprinters from 110hp to 155hp, at 110hp top speed 100 mph. 155hp it did 118 mph. Do you see where I'm coming from.

My d22 is chipped,monroe shocks all round and I can push d40`s on country roads(and BMW`s).With the decent shocks you can actually take corners at a fair speed.
Obviously won`t look near the d40 at high speed,but can keep up to around 80mph :thumbright:

28+ towing volvo ec30 and 5 mile round trips to work means it easier on fuel than a d40 too.
But for an all round package the d40 is a nicer truck.

Thats funny cause from what i hear from most of the guys on here with d40s with the DTE box fitted that it dont give them any extra top speed at all !?? in fact i have a had few standard d40 manuals that have done nearly 130 mph ...yet most of the DTE boys cant beat that ! :scratch:
I dont see where that d22 engine will rev past that rev limit with just five gears ! :?

Bro dont get your knickers in a twist :) ...i was just pointing out that most of guys that i speak to on here say you dont get anymore top speed from the DTE box ...in fact from what i can gather nobody has had anymore top end out of a d40 with a DTE box fitted ..!
And although i said it may be possible that a d22 could be made quicker of the mark ...i dont see where it could be made rev any more to give a higher top speed especially when the gear ratio wont let it due to having just five gears??
I have drove my fair share of d22s even owned them nearly new and they are screaming the granny out of them to get anything near 105 mph on the clock speed !
Where you recon you could get another 25 mph clock speed to match a good d40 manual is beyond me...i just dont see it mate !
BTW i am not having a dig at a d22 ...but comparing them to a d40 on performance is just silly !
 
Where I'm coming from is remap does a lot more than a plug in box. I remapped my 535d and it did 170+ from the standard 155. My pickup run faster gear speeds than a standard truck or with a dte fitted. That the whole doing of the remap.
By the way they don't do knickers in my size, so there's no twisting going on there. Lol
