Hi Everyone - I hope you can help as its due to Pi$$ it down soon with rain and my rust bucket Navara has decided to have a mind of its own with the electric driver side window.

It started a few days ago that the window went down by itself and i noticed it was like a tug of war with trying to get the window back up - sometimes it would go up, sometimes it wouldn't. I went for a drive today and its gone down by itself this time despite several hours of trying randomly to bring it back up it wont..

I decided to take the door seal off to see if i could notice anything but i couldn't I've been prodding around my multi meter around playing electrical hide and seak, but in all honesty i havent a clue what im testing for.

I decided to take some pictures of things with circles so you might be able to help me (as i dont know what all components are called).

Any help, massively appreciated.

First pic. This is the cluster from the window. When ignition is on the (red circle) lights are both on. The passenger side door (purple) works, but i assume the "slider" (blue circle) is what isn't working as im guessing when i slide it up and down the window should react.

Second pic: I've tried taking the speaker out and pushing up from both sides but the window is well and truly stuck down there.. My first objective is to try and get the window up so i dont flood my car or attract the local chavs.

I've unplugged the red circled clip that attaches to the motor to no joy, i also removed and cleared the the blue circle to no joy.

Is there anything else i should be checking? Any multi-meter checks you can recommend? This navara will be the death of me... and yes i snapped two of my door trim clips getting the thing off! 😡😖

Thank you thank you and thank you again if you have any advise.

Good morning all - A quick bump if i may - I've still not been able to resolve the problem - If you have any valuable assistance you can offer it would be massively appreciated - I would take it to a garage but a bit cash strapped so trying to get as close to the problem myself, and in an ideal world would be able to buy the "part" and fit myself (DIY).

Hi Folks - Sorry for the desperation - ill make it my final post on this if i don't get a response and take the hint to just scrap the bloody thing :p.

I managed to get the window to go up and disconnected the controller so i can finally start drying out the seat.

I bought myself a test light to see where power was going. I earthed her up, started pressing around and noticed when i press the test light where the blue arrow is (when the red slider is up) the window will go up.. I tried lots of different tests to make it go down (sliding the slider and testing all around) and couldn't get it to go down. I then wiggled the connection block that goes into this controller and it went down by itself... something very strange.

I had issues with my tail lights a year or so ago and had to run a new earth to them. I wonder if this issue is connected. I was really surprised that touching my test light on operated the window suggesting that this isn't earthed? Or am i chatting waffle and this is expected behavior from an earthed test light?

Morning, are you able to connect passenger window switch to driver switch in the driver door to check if it's a switch issue?
Hi davidpon,

Thanks for responding. Much appreciated ill check if I can today. I'm guessing the switch and terminal might be different as the passenger side only controls its own window, the drivers side does the passenger and driver side.. I will check though just incase nissan cut corners and used the same controller/terminal

Ok. I can't remember what the back of the switch looks like. Thought you might be able to swap over to check if driver window switch at fault.
I thought there was a thread somewhere here about you type of issue.

Hi all,

Quick update -Thanks For the link davipon. Unfortunately this didn't result in any success.

I took apart the controller (Nissan D40 2009 king cab) gave it all a clean with some electrical cleaner, i did notice a bit of green copper oxide on one/two of the pins so cleared it all, plugged in and still no joy.

Its very strange as the purple switch works (this operates the passenger side). The driver side (the blue circle) has a sliding mechanism on the right side. When i slide it up, to wind the window up, touching my earthed light tester on the pins the switch engages (i feel the mechanism and hear it). The window doesn't move though.

Just as a precaution (im hoping to get lucky as im not sure what order to check things so just checking the basics) i cleaned up all my ground wires in the engine bay (under the air filter, engine block and near quarter panel by the ECU). Checked the fuses in the glove box, ECU side, and by air filter (all looked OK on multi reader) - I've got a really cheap OBD reader so plugged that in hoping to strike lucky and no faults were found. Not to throw a read hearing in, but the navara has been in 2wd but had the 4wd light indicator on for some time on the dash, after doing the above i did notice the 4wd light is off which is promising :)...

Anyone got any other tests i can try to help isolate where the issue might be.

Side Question - does anyone know how i find wiring diagrams for the Nissan Navara/Pathfinder d40 2.5 king cab? Tried looking on the net but its just loads of pintrests posts which i dont want to follow just incase its misleading and the wrong version.

If you can hear the motor winding taking the door card off may show a worn part or jammed section of regulator.
Hi, when you say the door card, I think that's the one in my image which I've cleaned well with the sliding button on the left side (circled in blue). There is certainly power getting to the circuit as when I attach ground my test light and touch certain parts of the blue circled section the switch engages (only up). It's just strange it started going down on itself in the first place and wouldn't go up. Now it's not going down by itself atleast.

How do I test this thing is earthed correctly as a few months back I had to rewire a ground to the chassis from my back light, I wonder if this is somehow connected?

On the plus side I investigated my 4wd light being on and looks like the transmission relays are buggered so ordered some new ones.

tempted to order a new door window card but really want to find out how to prove it's the fault.

I'm sadly really enjoying trying to figure this out. I got a great wiring diagram which shows the harness goes into the m4 and m5 so ill check them tomorrow

I've attached the pdf for anyone else following the thread in the future.

I actually meant the inner door trim card but just remembered you posted a pic with it off. Personally I'd get a known good circuit board from a breakers and try that. Then if no good strip out the motor and regulator and check it on the bench. The kit has been in use for quite a while so worn components are to be expected. Good luck.

Thanks, do you know how I find the part? I can't seem to find one anywhere.

It's the 2009 2.5 kingcab version. It only has the two switches on it (driver and passanger) can't seem to find it anywhere. Is there a place I can check parts number to get the right model?

Just strange my local nissan (shrewsbury) £160.... :sneaky::eek:

I cheekily asked for the part number to see if I could get a replica but they wouldn't give it out.

I tried searching online but it keeps on showing up ones that operates back windows, with mine being the king cab it's just a basic two switch one. I'll keep hunting if anyone knows how to find the part and can let me know that would be great.

HI All,

I wanted to conclude this post to ensure anybody reading this has a conclusion.

TLDR:

Electric window was going down by itself, and would take anywhere between 1 and 200 times to get the window to go back up.

Replaced the switch and it works a dream.

(king cab model for the switch was very difficult to find - I ended up needing to go to Nissan to source the part, and even they struggled - They had to email Spain HQ).

Thanks @Davipon for your support.
