Hi,

Han my D22 for about a week now, well yesterday the engine developed a loud knock, i switched off immediately and had a sinking feeling inside. It sounded like classic big end knock but slightly higher pitch if that makes sense? Anyway i got home and did a search on here and found a couple of comments suggesting it could be the cluster of belts on the front of the engine? so this morning i started her up and the knock was there, so i poured a jug of water over the belts and it stopped knocking instantly. I have squirted WD40 on it for the time being and all seems fine.

Trouble is this has left me a bit paranoid now. Firstly, would i be correct in thinking the belts are at fault here and the engine itself should be ok, and secondly, if it is the belts, how on earth do they sound like an engine destroying itself? And thirdly, if it is only the belts,i wonder how many dodgy garages have charged customers for a rebuild that was not needed??

Thanks in advance
Paul
