Hi guys,

I just got my new Navara 2.3D last Friday and I'm really excited about it - and still getting used to it

I got it with the roller cover and plastic bed liner options, and have a question for anyone with the same combo.

To fit the drain tubes, they butchered the corners of the bed liner (as you can see in the photos) - is this how it's meant to be? Or should I go back to the dealer and ask them to fix it somehow?

Thanks for your help!

An untidy job at best. Worth a complaint, see what you can get!

It is indeed untidy and I'm not happy with this :(

With this (low) level of workmanship, I'm hesitating to letting them replace the lining. I'm afraid they'll end up scratching the paint everywhere

Short of having the bed liner replaced, do you see any other options to fixing this?

I'd say the only thing to get a more satisfactory repair would be to replace the liner.

They've already fitted the liner once, so if they were going to scratch the paint with it, they all ready will have done.

Sent from my mobile device. Please excuse brevity and mistakes.

That is extremely disappointing. I have the same liner as you and it was installed by a dealer from new, I did not have any issue with the actual fitment, below is my post sharing my experience of the load liner in my truck:

If they have drilled holes into your bodywork for drainage then it would be wise to check if any rust prevention has been applied.

Assuming your liner will be removed then I recommend applying some protection to your paintwork before you have it reinstalled e.g. I applied rubber strips. Load liners are known to chafe the paintwork which over time ( a few months damage in the picture ) will be significant.

Actually, I had come across your post when looking up whether what they did with my liner was normal. If (when?) the liner is refitted I'll follow your idea with the rubber strips :thumbleft: otherwise, depending on the price, I'll consider the rhino option.

I don't know if they drilled the bodywork for drainage. I know there are those 2 tubes at the back (hence the holes). Are those standard? I'll have to check later.

If they drilled them, how can I check whether they applied any rust prevention? (sorry if it's too basic, but I have no idea what to look for)

Looking at it again (not on my phone) the butchery is awful, what they did around the front looks appalling. I would be looking for a new liner and a tidy installaion.

Looking at the Mountain Top manuals on http://www.mountaintop.dk/documents/manuals/886_055.pdf the roll top requires drilling along with rust protection. You should ask if rust protection was applied and how. I don't know what residue/evidence any rust prevention would leave visible and how easy it is to expose and inspect each hole they drilled.

The adaption of the liner to fit the roll top indicates there would be doubts about the quality of any remediation or refit. Sounds like some dialogue is necessary to establish if you wish the same dealer to work on your vehicle.

nice n neat

Very nice and tidy! Unfortunately, nothing to do with what I was given.

I was given the manual that they followed to install my roll cover. When the page looks like this (their drawings), it doesn't give me any confidence to having them working on my car again...
