Hi Guy's...still looking for a nice truck but in the meantime a question. I need a hardback to be able to get my tools in and keep em secure during the week. But in all honesty I think they ruin the look of a truck... so when I use it at weekends would like to remove it... so what is the lightest and quickest to put on/off.... or is it just impractical? I had a D22 with a roll top which I got shot of for a hard back but I remember it was bloody heavy and took 3 of us to get in place.
cheers.

Hi Tequila.
Usually. A series of bolted clamps down the inside of the harptop (6 or 8 in total) also not forgetting any wiring which connects the lid to the truck for internal lights or third brake light will run down one of the corners. Usually the rear left. Although. ... wiring can be modifed with a molex plug and socket for future simplicity but you will still need a few mates to help you oift the lid off and place if safely somewhere to be reused again. Can be done.. me and my mates have taken them off in 15mins max.. we usually use old oil drums to place the lid at the right height for refitting.
Hope that helps.
(Also have a solid sided snugtop for a d22 double cab in silver going for grabs or swaps for one with side windows) - just about to fit a new pop out handle to it..

The hardtop will be a pain to put on and take off on a regular basis. They are not necessarily the most secure either. The stronger and more secure the top the heavier it will be.

Why don't you consider a strong box in the back to keep your tools in?

Tequila send me your email please, I will forward some photos of what I have done. Meantime look up N&J aluminium linings, Look at pork chop tool boxes and covers.

I have your email edd don't I. I will send you some photo's of the back of my truck. set up with spare wheel carrier and tool boxes. Nick is a really nice guy and I have driven from central Scotland to Clitheroe a few times so that they could work on my vehicles. I have driven 360 + miles round trip just so they can work on my stuff, stayed in travel lodges all of which cost's extra money. I guess you could say I recommend Nick & Julia oh wait I have on another website !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the record
1x Diamondbrite load liner with " farmers flap" A device which stops ****/legs going between the tailgate and tub at the hinge's
2x diamondbrite custom pork chop tool boxes with a removable middle divide and false floors, 2 sealed and locking top doors and 1 rear door which enables loading of long stuff up the length of the box. All designed by Nick to work within my twin hoop roll bar
1x tool box which is slightly taller and demountable by undoing 4 bolts.
1x spare wheel carrier which is demountable by undoing 6 bolts secured by captive nuts fitted to the liner. All of the above was fitted by N&J
In Diamondbrite although I have to say it has oxidised and could do with a serious polish.
Basically they can come up with a plan for secure storage for anything IMO and being I spent the price of 2 canopies on my stuff counting my liner I guess I must mean it. Oh I forgot to say everything is common keyed and one key fit's all 7 locks fitted
