Hey Guys

I’m looking for some advice and tips on buying a 2001 Navara. It’s the older shape up to 51 plate I believe? I’m completely new to these cars so haven’t got a clue! I’m looking for a pickup style 4x4 to tow my track car around. At present I have a Mitsubishi Delica which has been great, but I really want to keep my tools etc in a separate part of the car, hence looking for a pickup. I’m mainly looking at either an L200 or a Navara, although I prefer the looks of the Navara so edging that way :clappy:

EDIT: I'm learning already :study: Just searching on the site and found the model I'm looking at is a D22, 1st generation.

Can anyone give me any advice on what to look out for when buying these? I seem to remember some horror stories about the engines needing replacing? My budget for one took a bit of a hit so I’m looking at around the £3500 mark, so a 2001 model? Most likely looking for a diesel.

Thanks in advance (and great looking community by the way :cheers2: )

Re: Help me not get bent over. Need buying tips for >2001 Na

Bump for tips :bounce:

Hoping to go look at one on Saturday so would like to be armed with all the knowledge needed to make an informed decision.

Also anyone know if Nissan made an early version of the Navara but only available in Japan? Talking about 1993 ish? I've seen a really cool / retro looking pickup for sale. The guy claims it is near identical mechanically, chassis, engine wise to the Navara. It is an import? I'm not scared of imports, the Delica is one and so is my RX7. I just dont want to buy a truck of this age if parts are going to be hard to source?
