My 56 reg D40 (41,000 miles) has developed an annoying problem, the 4wd 'wheels' indicator on the dash just keeps constantly flashing. Shifting between 2wd, 4wd and 4lo is fine with no problems, its just the constant flashing. My Nissan dealer has said (as expected) that all three switches need replacing and an output seal that has caused water to enter and cause the problem. They have quoted....... £405!!!!!!!!!

Also £351 for the front brake discs and pads which are very rusty.

Surely this can't be right? Is there a cheaper way?

Dunno about the switches but discs & pads are cheap enough, I got Brembo's on withMintex pads, did it myself at a cost of £200.

Apparently you can get the 4x4 switches for 25 quid plus vat each from a dealer, milneroffroad will do the pads and discs for about 75 quid.
So about 150 pounds in total, I am sure a local garage will fit the parts for a couple of hours labour.
