Body lift or suspension lift?

Maybe i should write a post about this to be stickied Keith? Off work with a shoulder injury at the moment so might be the perfect time to do it.

Ok, so a few questions. Why do you want to lift it? What do you use the truck for? What is your budget?

Cheers Rich that would be great as I tried to understand from your build thread and got confused. I was thinking £500ish and I'd like to do suspension lift. I do a lot of commuting on a roads but I want to take it to pay and play days and will use it for towing also.

So far I've only got skid plates to go under it (Nissan oem).
It's also got a snug top now for the dog and a spare set of alloys with general grabber at2's

I want diff breathers but I will contact you once I have pm rights I'd like to build something like yours but I've only had it 4 weeks

 

Just a word of warning........
Lifting is addictive

You'll start with a 2" Spacer/Shackle lift then you'll think hmmm maybe need new UCAs, it's then only a short step to coil overs!

Believe me, there's no end

 

Im on plus 6" coilovers with new UCA's and im finished if that helps...

 

Go on, what's the benefit of new UCAs?
(Particularly on a 2" lift that won't be going much higher )

There isnt any Neil, only for 3" + lifts.

 

Thought as much.

How well does 3"+ work with the IFS? I wouldn't have thought there was too much flex to play with at the front?

Im at 4" and still have a tonne of down travel. The stock UCA's limit it massively!

This might give you an idea of how much downtravel you can get, this is my UCA with the coil bucket trimmed, probably another 4" of down travel over stock at least.

Can someone tell me what a uca and an ifs is please. Sorry I've had many cars that have been modded but I tend to go nearer the ground not higher.

Would the initial suggestion be a 2" block and cup lift then? Any suggested suppliers as the prices go from £60 to sky's the limit

UCA is Upper Control Arm

IFS my guess is Independent Front Suspension but not sure about this one.

There is no such thing. Read the guide i just wrote and decide whats best for what you want to do.
