Goid evening everyone, Driving to work this morning and suddenly there was a slight rattle and then no power and quite a bit of black smoke out of the exhaust.. Managed to coast to a lay by and switched it off. It will start but then just cuts out, only did this once as didn't want to do more damage..

Have now towed it back to a garage to see what the damage is..

What do you reckon it could be, timing chain?

it's a 2007 Aventura with 110000 miles.

If the chain had snapped the engine wouldn't run at all.

If you don't have an EGR blank fitted it's likely just the valve falling apart. A quick clean and a blank piece will fix it.

At 110k miles you're pushing your luck with the timing chain though. You should at least have it inspected.
