Hi All,

First post coming up!

I have a Navara Aventura, 55 plate 39K miles. The Universal Joint between the prop and the rear diff has practically disintegrated on the journey home last night. Drove straight to garage last night and left it there.
Has anyone else heard / seen this problem?

Cheers

No problems, sounded like a squeak, bit like an old spring bed. Then developed over a period of time to a slight knock, particularly when change gear or apply power. Towards latter end knocking every gearshift or power down. You can also make a visual check of the bearings; look to see if the cover is split.

Should also notice physical play in the prop, both up and down and rotate. Just lay underneath and move with hands. That’s when it was getting bad!

Hope this helps

Hmm, mine started with a sqeak, light on acceleration then louder on deceleration, then it disappeard and came back with like a metal snapping sound on pulling away, then all disappeared again

Prop UJ's will eventually wear out on any vehicle, and the Navara is no exception, there are usually warning signs though, i.e. juddering, jolting, vibration, clonking and squeaking.

The problem with the standard Nav UJ's is they have no grease nipples, so maintenance is limited, replacements with grease nipples are around ÂŁ25 each
