Can anyone help ? I have a d22 2.5t diesel and over time I have noticed the revs decreasing I can now only rev up to 3000rpm and then it starts missing, and smoking alot. I have changed the fuel filter, is there any other filters to change in the fuel system? It seams to me to be fuel starvation but not sure, has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they fix it?

Not 100% sure but remember reading somewhere that there is a small filter under the banjo feed into the pump. Remove the banjo and there was a spring, remove spring then dig out the tiny filter and clean.
Woz

i would check the neutral switch on the gearbox. disconnect it and see if the problem disappears.

Thanks for the advice I will try the banjo bolt and see it it makes any differance. It's a manual gearbox so not sure if it has a neutral switch, will look when under the car. Some days it revs up to 3200rpm and others only 2600rpm realy annoying now!!!

To test if the NPS is faulty when the holding back on the revs next occurs (normally in 3rd or 4th), push the gearstick hard over to the left. If the power picks up then the NPS is faulty.
BTW yes your manual box will be fitted with this switch
