Hi there. Just been doing an oil service on my 2007 D40 Aventura and noticed that the drivers side front outer CV Boot is split.( see picture ) There is just a little bit of splatter around the suspension components. How easy / hard is this to do as I am driving up from France at the weekend to go to Devon, so will be putting a lot of miles on. Is this draining my front diff. Does not seem to be a lot of oil about and nothing on the drive. Any one done this and know whats involved. Its just the outer rubber boot that needs replacing. Thanks in advance.

Firstly, no it won't be draining any oil from the diff.

Replacing is will mean removing the brakes, wheel bearing hub and then pulling out the halfshaft. The old boot can then be removed, and the new one put on.

Unlikely to be an issue driving it like that.

There are some universal split boots that are available, never tried them but they can be fitted without dismantling. [ame]https://www.amazon.co.uk/CVS18-Universal-Constant-Velocity-Contains/dp/B0080DLLIY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1531055107&sr=8-1&keywords=cv+boot+repair+kit[/ame]

Yes thanks Landmannnn. I realised shortly after I posted about the diff that I was being a prat. For fear of being a prat again, if I have to pull the half shaft, am I going to loose it then. I know when I did my sons volvo I jacked it up high and nothing came out.
