As part of the search into why the indicators/hazards stopped working yesterday I am taking the dash out of my truck. Currently struggling to remove the lower part under the instrument panel as I can't remove the choke mechanism. From looking at it the knob should come off allowing the collar to be unscrewed and then pushed through the trim but what ever I do, pulling or unscrewing the knob won't budge. Any ideas?

For anyone who encounters this, hold the shaft with a pair of needle nose pliers then push the knob in and twist it through 90 degrees and it should release.
