Hi all,

Just have some queries now that I'm a Navara owner.

1) I don't have a canopy on the back yet. The dealer (think Swiss Tony from the Fast Show) told me it would cost €2000 + VAT to get one fitted. Seemed a bit steep to me, for what seems to be a sizeable chunk of hardened plastic and a bit of fitting work. Can anyone advise if that's a reasonable figure for a canopy.

2) It looks like I'll be getting it chipped for maximum fuel-efficiency - there's a bit of a jump from fueling my previous motor, a very modest Punto Van, to this Navara brute. If there's anyone on here from Ireland, I'd be grateful if you could recommend/advise to avoid, some companies that provide the chipping service here, and what sort of improvement I can reasonably expect to get if I go for the economic chipping/mapping, rather than the power/performance version. I'll only be moving computers and the like in the back of this thing so I really don't need any more power.

3) If there's anything else you can suggest I should watch out for with the Navara, I'd be happy to hear it.

I'm still on my first tank, but after a long trip have got 420kms out of just over half a tank, from full. The Punto Diesel Van, with it's 1.2litre TDI engine would give me 1000kms to a 48 litre tank so I know I'm in for a culture shock...

Anyway, thanks in advance to all.

Regards,
Andrew

For mapping/chipping have a look here, DTE units are very good, Andrew will sort you a deal on one if you're interested:
