Hi All,
I’m new to this forum so apologies in advance if I may not be as technical.
So I currently own a 2010 Nissan Navara 2.5 diesel with 19,000 miles on the clock, that’s right you didn’t read that wrong! Back story to this vehicle, belonged to my late father which he took great care of the car, with servicing and maintenance even though with its low mileage. Stayed mostly in a garage but used for long distances only.
I have now taken possession of the vehicle however it’s got a slight issue with stalling when cold and a very rough idle. I’ll explain best I can.
On a normal cold start, I would start the vehicle (starts perfectly fine) and around 20 seconds in it would have a very rough idle and abit of white smoke, engage in 1st gear and set off, once I put the clutch down the engine would just cut off. Immediately I would start the vehicle but then it would take around 10 seconds to crank, which strangely the RPM needed would slowly increase until it’s started. This would cause a huge amount of black smoke and a smell of sulphur. I’ve been told it may of needed abit of running to clean any deposits which I have done with a tank of premium shell diesel and a fuel injector cleaner for around 150 miles in one journey but no avail.
I genuinely have no idea what this could be and not many people know what this issue is as it only presents itself when it’s cold. When the car is warm it runs perfectly.
Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all.
