What and where is the sun sencor on a d23.

It's probably located on the dash, below the windscreen where the defrost vents are.

It's for the A/C to average out sun temperatures.

if the sun sencor is malfunctioning would it bring on the engine management light?

Hmm, at a guess I would say no.

That would be my guess to, as you might have guessed i have an issue with the engine management light be
ing on, the vehicle is running well have checked what i could, particulate filter cleaned, mass air flow sensor cleaned EGR cleaned, just had it in for a diagnostic test they found no faults apart from the sun sensor,

Well, from what I know, which isn't much; any fault which put the light on would produce a code.

So I'd go for testing the sensor.

The yellow engine management light indicates that there is a fault code present, it doesn't have to be an engine fault, even if it is a picture of an engine.

The red EML is the one to worry about.

I would indeed expect a warning light if that sensor had failed.
On a more sophisticated car the dash might say there is a non urgent fault that you need to get fixed.

Did you get anywhere with this?

Have another issue, NOx sensor (will post), while checking fault codes with OBD also saw a fault for B2631 which according to workshop manual is sunload sensor.

Climate control seems to be working, well as ok as it always has, always tended to have a bit of a mind of its own as others have commented previously.
