Well im yet to pick up my new nav, but ive been buying bits...

As i was impressed with the replacment speakers i put in my last nav, thought i do it again, but get better speakers this time.
So ive been trawling ebay for some desent speakers. Ive bought the following.

Front doors are 6x9s, so went for the following. INFINITY REFERENCE 9633I

Ebay link at a very good price for infinity speakers. ÂŁ39.99 + pp

Rear doors are 6.5 inch, so went for the following. INFINITY REFERENCE 6532I

Ebay link, ÂŁ38.99 +pp

Also bought 12mm depth MDF 6.5inch spacers for the rear doors as this will give the mounting depth for the rear speakers so it wont foul the window and also makes the overal width of the speaker to 7 inches to fit in the whole right, as the orginal rear speakers have a funny surround that make it hard to fit 6.5 inch aftermarket speakers.

ebay link for speaker rings

So ill get some pictures up when i start fitting them once i get my nav :D

Looks good mate. Good price to. Just need a truck to put em in now!!!

Is there major issues with fitting new speakers (depths etc) I see you have rings, will the door card still sit flush?

Are you running them off the headunit or amping them?

I assume upgading the speakers even keeping them off the headunit will net a big improvement?

All the bit have turned up now, but i cant do nowt until my nav is sorted since it blew up!!

any way, i did the speaker upgrade on my last nav doing it pritty much the way you did it fil. :D

BUT i got more bass over the standard speakers plus alot more clarity and mid range notes are alot more noticable, plus sounddeading the doors my have also helpped....i gess its down to speaker choice at the end of the day and hopefully the ones i chose this time will do the job, as, according to the reviews on them, they are designed for bass...Im not going to amp them as im happy with what they did on my old nav, i will just get amy amp and sub sorted or might try a slimline active sub box this time and go for quality rather than quantity of bass...

I've had systems with serious bass. 2 x 12" JL Audio subs running about 1000 watts in a saxo!!!!

Fun, but tiring. Quality all the way for me.

I actually have a set of brand new DLS 6x9s from a few years ago sitting boxed in my folks shed that I might use in the Nav....

Yeah, im not so much into the boom boom boom now im getting older lol!!!

I had a JL setup too was JL 500.1 JL 10W7 JL 300.2 (I think) and what ever the most expensive JL components were. Cost a small fortune but was brilliant kit. I had a load of RF stuff as well and a RE SE 12 that I got 143.6 db from :D

Good times!

W7 :thumbleft:

Ah the good old days...... Think I might change the speakers in the Nav actually.

W7 You know it! Think the amp was a 300.4 not 300.2.

The JL kit was so well built and just brilliant got me looking into it all again now! Doh

Just think how many subs you can fit in the back of a pathfinder..................lol :D

Looks like I made a bad choice! Fitted new speakers(well one) and compaired to the Nissan speaker it was put to shame. I am putting this down to the fact that the head unit just does not have the power to move the woofer. Looks like i need to do some amp investing!!

Try talkaudio.co.uk they should be able to point you in the right direction. :)

Have you check all the connections?

Let us know what you do.

have you got you + and - the right way round on the speakers and have u only replaced the rear speakers???? if so, its the 6x9s in the front doors that will give you the bass and the rear speakers will give you midrange and high notes. also what ohms are your new speakers rated at comapired to the standard ones???

Cheers, I will give them a go. Yes, I have tried the connections. The sound was not distorted, just lacking good sound! I put the original speakers back in and they are better than the after Market ones. The only reason I was going down this route is the X Trail Nissan loaned me while waiting for the Nav had a Bose system in and it was awesome. Need to try and match it some how!

Cheers
