Hi guys im new on here so go gentle! Im looking at buying a D40, i have a budget of 10k and the truck will not be used as a builders skip, it will be my family car, im looking for quite high spec in terms of toys/gadgets etc any advice on what i can expect for my money ie spec levels etc would be greatly aprieciated, also as im useless with cars any advice on what i should be looking for by way of common faults etc etc before i take the plunge! thanks in advance guys!

hey eddie,

i chose the d40 over the hilux for the pure reason that you get more/ a better truck for your money! so getting one for 10k shouldnt be a problem. mine was 10.5k and its an 07 aventura (top spec) with 57,000 on the clock when i bought it. i experienced the limp mode problem a month after i bought it, but sorted that out with help from this site :)

good luck,

Steve

Just bought mine. Got a 56 plate Pathfinder Sport with 54k on the clock. Got all the toys except leather seat (not a fan of leather anyway). Paid 11k for mine. I would have loved a truck but I have hobbies and a family which make them impractical.

Loving mine, costs me a fortune in tax etc, but you only live once!!

Cheers
Simon

Hi mate i run a D40 Auto Aventura we all love the truck and mines a Euro 4 so i only pay ÂŁ125 yr road tax, she's a bit heavy on fuel but all 4x4 are if you want 50 mpg buy a micro :D

Go for the Aventura it has all the toys on it, mines done 47k miles and i would expect it would sell for about ÂŁ10000 with the snug top so shop around you will get one

Best of luck

Cheers guys, one other thing, any pros and cons for an auto box v manual?? I fancy an auto but Ive heard they're only 5 speed rather than 6 speed ( manual ) and therefore are heavier on juice, or is this hardly noticeable? Cheers

Usually the D40 autos are heavier on juice than the manual, but by how much depends on what year D40 you actually get.

2005-late 2006 Euro 3 auto would be pretty good

Late 2006-Sept 2010 Euro 4 not great

Sept 2010-current 190 pretty good but maybe not as good as Euro 3?

Confused? me too
