Hi there,

I'm new here and I could use some help and advice if at all possible.

I've sourced a Navara over the internet, my Dad's been to look at it (I'm miles away) but I can't identify the model in order to judge the price. This is the description from the dealers advert

"4 Doors, Manual, All Terrain, Diesel, 55,000 miles, Metallic Silver. Metallic Paint, Heated door mirrors, ABS, Adjustable seats, Adjustable steering column/wheel, Alloy wheels, Anti theft system, CD, Climate Control, Driver airbag, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Front armrest, Full Service History, Remote locking, Air conditioning, Remote central locking, Alarm. servicng and MOT as necessary, ÂŁ5,995"

The actual advert with photos is here

http://www.autosportloughborough.co.uk/ ... owroom.htm (the Navara is the 9th one down on the first page of the showroom page)

I would like to identify the model and would appreciate any advice whatsoever in relation to this propective purchase.

Thanks

Dutch

Hi, d22 with engine that can blow up due to inferior shell bearings and iffy timing chain tensioner.

Both can be prevented with modifications at quite a few pounds
Look on the site for info.

Also think its a grand too dear, but thats my opinion.

I paid 5000= vat for my 03 with 46k on it in 08 :thumbright:

Thanks diggerman

Once the Lil'Trucker identified it was a D22 I quickly found the section on engine problems.

Interesting what you say on price though? I've made comparisons on the web and it looked pretty good (The vehicle has only ever been used as a 'car'...no tow bar and not a scratch on the plastic load area)

I'll ring the garage tomorrow and find out what the engine number is to see if it carries the 'mark of the devil'....................my thoughts are now though that I'll probably give it a miss.

Thanks

Well thank god for this website and forum!!

I spoke to "Will" at the garage this morning, there is no engine number on the Log Book but he identified the engine number off the vehicle as (you guessed it) YD25 etc etc.

I explained about the potential problem and the solution, he said they'd sold loads and a) never heard of it before and b) never had one come back with an engine problem.

I copied and pasted the 'guts' of the potential problem and solution and when I tried to discuss possible 'options' available (such as themselves doing the modification or an extended engine warranty he wasn't interested, got shirty and said "someones gonna come along and buy it" before putting the phone down.

I thought that it would be best therefore to post the details of the vehicle before it disappears off their website.

Silver Nissan Navara D22
Registration FY52 UXR
Chassis JNICPUD22U0073861
Engine YD25.............

Being offered for sale by Auto Sport Loughborough withh 55K for ÂŁ5,995

Now they are fully aware that there is a potential problem it would be interesting to see what their liability is if it all goes wrong for a future unsuspecting purchaser.

Hope this is OK

Thanks
