Hi,

I've had 2.5 dCi Pathfinder for many years an this year I bought 2010 V6 3.0 dCi. Added chiptuning box and I am quite impressed with performance. But with 2.5 engine I've never had issues like I describe below.

But both, auto transmissin box and engine many times act very strange:

- While cornering, usually just in the middle of curvature, when I release gas pedal a bit, gearbox upshifts thus decreasing torque and power, so it' almost impossible to push it for the 2nd half of curve. Might be sustainable for Sunday driving, but for sake of safety it should not change gears up when side G-force is detected. Is there something I can do to change this behaviour? Relocate g-sensor? Replace it? Newer model?

- Second bigger problem is that turbo sometimes kicks-in right after 1000-1100 rpm, and sometimes it lags to 1800 or even 2000 rpm, making me nervous when overtaking on highway, as I am never sure, whether it will pull or not.
She has 200k km on tacho, I can hear light turbo whine when cold, but I guess it should be much louder if something would be out of order. Suggestions, experience?

You are not the first to complain about the behaviour of the V9x setup.

They did update the software and g sensor at some stage before 2014 (my 2014 is better)

As a bit of background, the auto transmission and the turbo are linked by the software, so it is often the transmission that decides what the turbo is doing.

You can improve the situation by driving in sport mode when you want to drive more aggressively, also the throttle pedal has a long travel (useful off road) so push it to the floor if needs be. I tend to flick it into Sport on busy roads with multiple junctions and roundabouts.

Other common complaints on the earlier version

Around 70kph it can't decide which gear to be in.

It will not hold first ( in low range) when descending a hill off road.

Delay in spinning up the turbo from a standing start.

Have a read here

Well, @landmannnn, thank you for sheding some light on "my" problems. Looks like I will just need some time to get used to some strange habits of this 7-gear auto transmission and let it do what it does. And use sport mode more often.

What bothers me is turbine - in 2.5 model it was like 5 minutes and few air tubes away, while in this 3.0 it is like dismantling half of the vehicle to get hands on :( Any easy method to diagnose its state?

The easiest way to get to the turbo is to drop the transmission, body off is a lot more work.

Sadly no easy way to diagnose/check the turbo remotely.
Ufff...I was afraid somebody will say something like that. But good news, same company, which rebuilds transmisisons, also deals with turbines, so at least I have no doubts about who will get the job :)

The turbo is not known as a fault, most modern turbos are designed to outlast the vehicle. If you are getting some noise it is probably the intercooler, I have had two genuine ones, the third is an aftermarket one and has been perfect.
