Hi guys,

Really new to navaras but loving every second ...

I want to know exactly which engine I have so i know what im reading on the forum.

Its a 2006 King Cab so any extra info would be great!

Also once i know this .... whats the go to list of simple mods that people go for on that engine to free up a few extra horses and things to check to prolong life?

Also tuning boxes/remaps for that engine yes or no!

I realise a search might find me this info .... but hey this is more sociable :)

Thanks so much for any help!

If it is a Euro 3 then 174bhp, Euro 4 171bhp.

The changeover point is about October 2006. You can tell by one of these:
3 has a silver rocker cover, 4 black (not the plastic, the metal one underneath)
4 road tax is ÂŁ145, 3 about ÂŁ190
V5 says euro 3 or euro 4.

Great answers thanks guys!

as soon as i can pin down which engine it is il get the egr stuff sorted. I checked the V5 and couldnt see any "euro" but can confirm it was first registered in 01/09/2016 so guessing euro 3?

Is it worth doing exhausts on these? nice stainless system? als oair filter options? cone or K&N panel?

Ive seen some euro3 and euro4 2007 navaras so guessing the change over was very late 2006-2007
To be sure take off or look under the plastic engine cover and see what colour the engine top is

the exhaust is personal preference you won't see massive mpg or bhp benefits but some have reported being "more responsive"
My money would be on a billcar remap + duplex timing chain mod

Just been looking at this and its a flamin ripoff, i pay ÂŁ220 a year because i have a euro 4 registered after dec 2006 mine was december 2007 so the same vehicle registered 12 months earlier is 80.00 a year less whilst a dirtier vehicle (euro 3) which happens to use less fuel! still pays less WTF! cant wait to retire and get off this island!

In actual fact it was an incentive for manufacturers to introduce the Euro4 standard early by way of offering a road fund licence discount.

There are similar schemes in place for petrol cars so that some people end up paying ÂŁ20 or ÂŁ40 per year.

They didn't really think it through...the reduced tax lasts the lifetime of the car or the truck even though a few years later it will be a poor performer.
