Hey everyone

I have noticed a whinning noise coming for my truck but it doesn't seem to be happening all the time. When I am driving normally around the street and just using a little bit of throttle there is no noise (or non that I can hear) but when I am pulling away from a standstill or speeding up to join the motorway and put a bit more throttle down the whinning sounds but it doesn't do it all the time. It is a lot more noticeable when I am pulling off from a standstill. I'm not very mechanically minded with cars as most of my experience has been from motorbikes but can anyone point a bit of light onto what this issue could be? I don't want to hand it over to a mechanic and have them spend time looking for something that I could of sorted myself.

Cheers everyone

James

A few thoughts, most likely something driven by the serpentine belt, either the alternator or the tensioner pulley. Does it make the noise at idle?

The other could be an air leak on the intake hoses. Check to see if there are any tell tale oil stains on the hoses.

Hi Landmannnn
No noise at idle and sometimes no noise at all when I try to replicate the way I was driving when I got the noise.

Can't see any tell tale oil stains on the intake and the belts don't seem to be loose. I take it that it doesn't matter if the belts tight if it's worn down enough it will just be slipping. My first thought might of been turbo but I would of thought it would be either constant or every time I accelerated
