next week i am purchasing an endoscope so i can check inside my chassis properly.
had a visual look yesterday and it looked ok but want to know for sure as i am wanting it as a keeper for a while.
Thanks for all the comments, it was a lot of work but i think it was worth it. If it was much more then i was thinking about saying no. it was border line. Paul.

As in my other thread...

I have suffered from a rusty chassis on the fuel tank strap area causing my fuel tank to drop.

I have contacted Nissan about this, Is it worth me contacting BillCar too so they're aware of the issue?
Oh yes, if it is the actual chassis that has failed, they will want to know. Another nail in the coffin :faint

I was astounded by such a statement! If they come back to me with that reply then god help me!

If the chassis isn't an integral part, what is?!

Definition as per Oxford dictionaries

Integral - 1.0 Necessary to make a whole complete; essential or fundamental
1.1 Included as part of a whole rather than supplied separately
1.2 Having all the parts that are necessary to be complete

Says it all really

i would be putting a list together and doing the watchdog thing again.... nissans response of its not an integral part of the vehicle is astonishing.. if that is nissans response then does that mean you can remove the chassis and drive the vehicle without it !!!! .... i saw the picture of the one that broke in half and its frightening as to what could happen..... publicity is the only way to get anything done these days

Check the rest of your chassis carefully. That is what happened to my truck and was the first indication that the chassis was rusted and cracked.

As far as we are aware, it is the early D40s (55-57 plate) that are directly affected.

However, they all suffer from the lack of rust protection on the chassis, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get yours done.

the way i see it, and i'm unaware of any chages to the manufacturing process is that it's purely 55-57 plate ones affected due to age. i would imaging they all would be affected at 8-10 years old?

you have plenty time to slow it down or erradicate the potential issue though.
