I know this thread has gone on a bit, so sorry if i have missed some bits, but I have just had my Navara fail its MOT due to Chassis Rust :crying: Particularly upsetting as i had Nissan (in fact they sent the RAC out) inspect it just 3 months ago and they told it was all fine.
My Truck is a 2007 D40, had a few owners, but in good general shape. It has holes on the cross member over the tank (where it meets the chassis) and by the rear suspension hangers.
I've re-opened my call to Nissan Uk and am waiting to hear back....
I'm trying to get a feel for how often Chassis Rust claims to Nissan are paid out?
Thanks All....
Sorry to hear that you, too, have been caught up with the chassis problem, Mac.
In answer to your specific question as to how often, it would be "very frequently at the moment". As the issue has gained momentum since if was first mooted back in early 2015 and following media coverage, more and more owners are coming forward with notable corrosion, raising cases and having inspections done.
There have been reports that the cross-members are not covered as part of the buy-back offer, however regardless of this and by looking at your photographs it looks to me like yours will be condemned to due to corrosion around the spring mounts if the chassis rails are affected around the area of concern.
You might find this Technical Bulleting of interest which explains the key areas or corrosion where buy-back would be considered, together with the differing action that Nissan will take depending upon age of vehicle.

Yours being a 2007 falls slap-bang in the range of concern.
