Looks like Nissan are no longer buying back affected vehicles but are repairing them in Spain .
Yea ive heard that too
Sending them to spain though is a very expensive way round

Do you think the chassis manufacturer is being made to pay for the repairs? In which case the contract between them and Nissan might stipulate that the affected vehicles been returned to the place the chassis were delivered to.
All speculation.

In the end there will always have been a contract with the sub-contractor, and that (at this level) will involve a very precise materials and finish quality specification. I think your speculation is likely, and what has happened is the that sub-contractor has been found wanting by lawyers and engineers after some crisis analysis meetings (!), and they are big enough to bear some or all of Nissan's costs.....

wouldnt bother me if they did have to repair or re chassis it at least everything they take off would be new as this will probably be done on an assembly line rather than a workshop body off chassis out swap and drop back onto new chassis, they will probably command a premium as well

Apparently if its been in for the free underseal it wont be allowed the new chassis

Honestly i'd have preferred to have had mine repaired instead of crushed, but it wasn't an option at the time. Instead i've lost a fortune on it and found Nissan's CS terrible, i had to fight to get enough out of them to even cover the finance.

Oh and according to Nissan, it's not a problem with the quality of the steel used in the chassis, it's an issue with the anti corrosion treatment. Apparently the chassis was too large for the bath, so they had to turn it and re dip it, which caused an air bubble, which then pops and causes the chassis to rot from the inside out (apparently).

All in all it's left a rather bad taste in my mouth and i doub't id ever look at another Nissan.

I've waited a while for the dust to settle and plans to be put in place before I booked my inspection today.
NCS were very polite and helpful, along with the dealership it's booked into for Wednesday afternoon.

I've really looked after my truck in every way for the past 3 years, so I hope all is well... but we'll see.

I'll report back the findings on Wednesday, especially as I'm interested to see what they say about the chassis plates I fitted a while back. :really

Wow the price on those went up a bit since I did mine.

My 2006 has a very clean chassis, no sign of issues. Should I get the plates done anyway?
Have you not had it checked by Nissan? It costs nothing and no amount of plating will stop it once its started and could even speed things up on the snapping front. If condemmed by Nissan I would suggest cut your losses and take their money. Personally and im sure many in the know would not touch a plated one with a barge pole as internal corrossion is not just in the plate area. Add to that the welding itself setting up weak points.
I think this rebuild story is a red herring . Have any who have recently failed been offered this? Im hoping to be proved wrong.LOL

I got a 2005 55’ plate Navara D40, I emailed Nissan UK they said I would have to pay for my inspection, I only bought mine towards the end of August this year & didn’t know about the problem! So where do I stand, pay Nissan to inspect or weld chassis plates & have it professionally waxoyld myself? Any feedback will be appreciated
