Hey all,

Another post after a few more days trying to figure out what’s wrong…
Get so many different answers so here’s what I know so far

What I’ve done
  • Fuel Filter
  • SCV
  • Fuel Filter Hoses
  • Cleaned MAF sensor

  • Car will take 3-4 tries to start when cold, turns off within 3-8 seconds.
  • Only started occuring AFTER my last service… NEVER happened before it.
  • There is no knocking or weird sounds coming from the timing chain
  • I have no codes on diagnostic tool
HOWEVER:
  • Fuel filter needs to be pumped almost every minute when I’m led to believe that should be staying firm always??
  • Will be fine if air temp outside is warm also?
  • All mechanics near me are booked out for months

ANY advice would be great as this has been just an annoying persistent issue.

Thanks kindly

Have you done ther Pedal dance after changing the SCV, if not then do that.
If the primer bulb don´t stay firm then you have air in the system, did you change the fuel filter with the last service?
Usually Nissan original or Mann fuel filters work best others can let air in usually near the T section.

If you need to pump the ptimer bulb every time it would suggest there is a air leak around the fuel filter if you have recently changed it. Also as mentioned after changing mechanical parts you should do the pedal dance otherwise the ecu does not know new parts are fitted so will use the old settings

Been there,

stretched timing chain does that - when cold keep rev above 2000 until warm then it will work all day until engine cold again.

there are two measuring points for oscilloscope to attach to cam and crank shaft to check pulse difference - if difference is greater than 20mS ( that is a guess - can’t remember exactly) engine will stall after 8 secs

replaced mine with dual-chain option - had problem 164’000km - 310’000km now and going great
